SugarCRM/SpiceCRM running on PHP7 and MySQL 5.7 – doubling performance
For all open source users two big releases happened in the last months. MySQL did release 5.7 in GA and even more exciting PHP7 was released. Both packages made significant promises towards performance increases.
While the update of the database to 5.7 does not make a big difference when it comes to the application SugarCRM will run smoothly on MySQL 5.7. We did the upgrades but still need to create some more significant stats on the performance gain.
What is more exciting is the upgrade to PHP7. Unfortunately, the upgrade to PHP7 is not straight forward with SugarCRM. This […]
SugarOutfitters is joining the SpiceCRM Team – the whys and the hows …
I am working with SugarCRM now for about 8 years. I love the platform and think they folks at Sugar did a great job initially. But one thing they never got right was the model of extendability. While other providers make a great asset out of their app stores and generate nice revenue streams on upsell and additonal componentes sugar is the lame duck here.
SugarCRM is great but lacks in many areas quite some functionality. As harsh as this sounds this is not an issue. In fact the same applies to almost any other CRM solution out […]
The Lightning Design System
Just recently Salesforce made an IMHO quite significant but interesting step. One the one hand they are releasing a new UI with their Ligthning Design. A makeover that was more than needed. Still interesting on it, is to see, how they struggle to get the product aligned. This seemingly also seems to be a big step to get their own functions migrated to the new technology and UI. […]
Summary of the Global Partner Summit
Last week I attended SugarCRM’s global Partner Summit in Portugal. Over my past professional career I always have been skeptical on these kind of events and in fact if they add value or are rather a waste of time and money. Yet in this case I have to say it was a worthwhile trip. Well organized and with good content. Especially the technical track they hosted was well done. It was an open atmosphere, good sharing of knowledge and insights with SugarCRM’s development team. Over the years – and I know Sugar know for quite a number […]
